This page explains, in plain words, where the data in Scrap.io comes from, what we collect, why, and how to have your data removed. It completes our Privacy Policy, which remains the reference.
Where the data comes from
Scrap.io describes businesses listed on Google Maps. We collect two kinds of public information:
- the listing itself, as it appears on Google Maps, where it may be supplied by the business, by Google or by other contributors: name, category, address, phone number, website, opening hours, rating and reviews count, photos and similar details;
- contact details published on the business's own public website: email addresses, social media profile links and similar contact points.
We do not collect data from social networks' private areas, from registration forms, from leaked databases, or from any source that is not public. We do not buy data from third parties.
What we collect and what we do not
We collect what helps a professional identify and contact a business: who it is, where it is, what it does, and how to reach it. We do not look for private information about individuals, their personal life, their opinions, or any sensitive data. Most records describe companies, not people. A record becomes personal data when a business is run by a person under their own name, or when a website publishes a named person's professional email or phone number.
Why we collect it
Our customers are businesses and professionals who use Scrap.io to find and contact other businesses: prospecting, market research, lead qualification, enriching their own files. We rely on our legitimate interest, and theirs, in business to business prospecting. Our customers are bound by our Terms and Conditions: they may only use the data for lawful business purposes, must respect the rules on electronic marketing, and must not contact a person who objected to receiving their communications. They may pass the data on or resell it to other businesses, which must respect the same restrictions.
How long we keep it
We keep a business record while it remains available at its public source and necessary for the service. We refresh our data periodically, and a record that is no longer available at its source is removed from our database through our refresh process. When we accept your objection, we delete the data from our database and add it to our block list so that it is not collected again.
How to object or have your data removed
You do not need an account. Write to [email protected] and tell us what to remove: an email address, a website or a Google Maps listing (removing a listing also removes its phone number and other contact details). We may ask you to prove that you control the email address or website concerned. A member of our team reviews every request, and we answer within one month, or within three months for complex or numerous requests, in which case we tell you within the first month. Once your request is accepted, the data is deleted from our database and added to our block list, so that it is no longer collected or served: it no longer appears in our searches, exports, API, MCP server or enrichments, once our temporary caches have expired. We keep the blocked identifier (the email address, the domain or the listing identifier) so that it is not collected again. Files generated for our customers before your request are not rewritten: copies they already downloaded are out of our control, and files still hosted by Scrap.io remain available to the customer who generated them while they are in its account, and on request for 30 days after its subscription ends, under the conditions of our Terms and Conditions. Results already prepared for a customer before your request may still be delivered to them.
You can also write to [email protected] to access the data we hold about you, learn its source, or have it corrected. We answer within one month, or within three months for complex or numerous requests, in which case we tell you within the first month. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office in the United Kingdom (ico.org.uk) or with the data protection authority of your country.
In the European Union, you can also exercise your rights through our representative under Article 27 of the GDPR, Prighter EU Rep GmbH, Schellinggasse 3/10, 1010 Vienna, Austria, on its portal: https://app.prighter.com/portal/15604909101.
Who we share it with
Our customers, the users of our browser extension, the businesses our customers pass the data on to, as described above, and the service providers that host and run Scrap.io, listed on our subprocessors page. We do not sell or share the business data with advertising networks.
